Good
Burger (1997)
"Welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger.
Can I take your order?"
Good film featuring Nickelodeon TV's Keenan and Kel
in a skit they performed on "All That" and their own
"Keenan and Kel" blown up to feature film length. These
two young comic actors are so funny, together or alone,
that it's a treat to watch them on screen, no matter
how insipid the plot.
Other actors from the show, Laurie Beth Denberg and
Josh, also appear in the film. As does Dan Schneider
who works as a producer of "All That" with Brian Robbins,
his former co-star from TV's "Head of the Class. (They
guy who played Arvid is sometimes on the TV show but
isn't in the movie). Robbins also acts as a scripter,
producer and the director here. Abe Vigoda, TV's "Fish,"
who hasn't aged in 20 years, is also in the film. Sinbad
plays a very "hip" teacher who is stuck in the 70's
while Teresa Ganzel, George Clinton and Robert Wuhl
have cameos. Clinton's cameo is part of a spoof of Michael
Jackson's video's choreography that is quite funny.
The jokes can be sophomoric here -but then again they
can be cerebral also. This is really a cleaver film
with a bit of a silly plot. It will keep you entertained,
although the little kids may get a little bored.
Note:
Music by Stewart Copeland. A song co-written by Kel
called "I'm a Dude" is featured throughout.
A short featuring the "Action League Now" was shown
before the film is some markets.
