- Austin Gay and Lesbian Film Festival - Film Reviews
His
Secret Life - The story veers into unique yet wonderful
territory. But the next "gay people are like circus
folk" genre film will probably feel my wrath.
The
Trip - Although "The Trip" plays out over 10 years
and delves into drug use, promiscuity, abusive lovers,
and AIDS, it is still one of the most refreshing and
hilarious gay films to be seen.
Agliff
2002 Festival Shorts - Uh you guessed it....Agliff
2002 Festival Shorts.
Fleeing
by Night - Offers yet another glimpse into a gay
coming out story but with many nuances and plotlines
to make it unique.
Group
- Is awesome. There is not one false moment in it.
Mango
Souffle - A more curiously odd and campy film I
cannot imagine.
All
the Queen's Men - Sure, it's not as fiercely gay
as "To Wong Foo" or as colorful and poignant as "Priscilla."
This is more like "Tootsie" in 1942.
When
Boys Fly - In this age of mockumentaries, it took
a little while to be sure that this was a real "documentary"
and not a faux one.
Second
Skin - This film is not really for gay audiences,
who can see the ending coming a mile away. This is one
for the straight folks.
Under
One Roof - Now, all that being said, the film has
incredibly bad acting, poor visual quality, far too
much narration and is, basically, nothing short of a
glorified "coming out" story. So why did I like it so
much?
Showboy
- This film has the flimsiest, most unbelievable premise
I've ever seen.
Days
- It's one of the few AIDS features to be made in the
last 10 years or so that deserves to be seen and reflected
upon.
The
M.O. of M.I. - I'm tired of watching movies where
someone's gay lover kills them,. It's so 70's.
Britney,
Baby, One More Time - is that it is a totally gay
film that has only one gay character. There's no gay
drama. There's no talk of AIDS or drama over coming
out.
