AGLIFF
2002 - Austin Gay and Lesbian Film Festival - Day 6
I didn’t have any films to go to today, but I did
catch up on a bit of reading. The Triangle had an interesting
fact about the festival:
160 films from 17 countries in 67 programs.
Cool.
Of course, their picks for “The Best of the Fest”
was culled from the program. They obviously didn’t preview
the films or there is no way they could include "The
M.O. of M.I." in this heading. They don’t even mention
its only true selling point for Agliff: It was made
in Austin.
And while we’re speaking of publications, I’d like
to see Agliff include some more info in their program
notes. In particular, the names of some actors would
be nice. And a must would be to include website for
the films. That is fast becoming the norm in film programs
these days.
Johnny Oh! Saw “Straight” today, the one-man-show
on video that I tried to watch on Saturday. (They had
sound problems then). He said everything went well technically
and the film was quite good. Since he had a two-hour
layover before going to see some shorts at 9:45, and
since J.K. didn’t have time to hook up with me, we had
dinner together at Texas Land and Cattle. A really cute
young guy with a shaved head waited on us.
We talked about AMP and “The M.O. of M.I.” and
Johnny read me this hilarious thing he found. It was
something he wrote a few years ago, before he even knew
me, I believe, called “The Top 11 Things You Need to
Know about Johnny Oh!” I was spewing iced tea outta
my nose it was so funny. It was all about his sexual
wonts and it was funny as hell. He’s going to forward
a electronic copy to me so I can put it up on the site!
Johnny Also told me about the lil’ straight trick
he picked up last night. Wow. What a story!
J.K. called me to tell me that he had bought a
little something for me but it was a surprise. I guess
I’ll just have to wait to see him to get it. He is going
out of town to visit friends this weekend and I have
burned some CD copies of some Belle et Sebastian and
Bowie’s “Young Americans” for him, so I hope I get to
see him before he goes.
Oh yeah, and he told me that he doesn’t wear contracts.
Weird. I thought he did. But it was also his way of
letting me know he has read some of the things I have
written on the site. I know that I am pretty open about
my personal life here, but I have written and posted
pictures with J.K.’s approval to do so. He told me not
to “talk trash” about him and I’m not exactly sure what
that means. But I can’t imagine ever saying anything
to hurt him or harm him. Although I have written about
how funny it is when he dances. But that’s a joke between
us now.
Anyway - Tomorrow I am seeing a Spanish film with
the English title of “Second Skin.” Maybe he’ll join
me for that. Or for the TBA on Thursday night, “All
the Queen’s Men” with Matt LeBlanc.
